Romana Kryzanowska, a professional dancer in George Balanchine’s Dance Troupe at the American Ballet Theatre, studied and worked with Joseph Pilates for 30 years. She was personally choosen by Joseph Pilates to pass on his method to new generations. When Joseph Pilates’s widow decided to retire, Romana was appointed Studio Director and she remained so until her death on the 30th August 2013. Sari Mejia Santo, Romana’s daughter, was taught by Joseph Pilates until she was 18; she continues, with her daughter Daria, to teach and spread Joseph Pilates’s original method all over the world.
