Traditional Chinese Medecine

Meridians
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the physical body and the etheric body are connected by electromagnetic channels which transmit energy between the external part of the body and the internal organs. If the energy is blocked, disturbed or even absent, it can be the source of health problems. Knowledge of the meridian paths and acupuncture points can give a clear understanding of the origin of certain health issues. By using simple and pleasant techniques, Qi Gong encourages the circulation of energy throughout the meridians.

Emotions
A connection exists between the 5 basic emotions, the 5 elements, the 5 seasons and the 5 internal organs.
  • Fire - Summer - Heart - JOY
  • Earth - end of Summer - Spleen/Pancreas - THOUGHT/ANXIETY
  • Metal - Autumn - Lungs - SADNESS
  • Water - Winter - Kidneys - FEAR
  • Wood - Spring - Liver - ANGER

It could be considered that the links between emotions and organs are like a dual carriage way, for example:
  • If the liver is upset = the person is angry and irritable.
  • If the person feels angry and frustrated = the liver will be upset.

The Yin and the Yang
This energy has two aspects: the Yin and the Yang. These two opposing energies are interdependent, exchangeable, one gives rise to the other, one controls the other, they couldn’t exist without each other, they are essential to each other, one depends on the other. They are interchangeable and it is essential that they remain balanced for our health and well being.
